Woodriver PTO Executive Board Responsibilities
The President:
- Leads all meetings of the Membership and the Executive Board.
- Coordinates the work of the organization.
- Oversees fiscal compliance and is a check signer on the PTO account.
- Checks in regularly with the Executive Board to ensure the overall plans are on target.
- Recruits volunteers when needed.
- Volunteers at events when available.
- Serves in other areas as needed.
The President-Elect:
- Acts as an aide to the President, working closely with the President in preparation for becoming the PTO President the following year.
- In the absence of the President, the President-Elect shall assume the duties of the President.
- Attends all meetings of the Membership and the Executive Board.
- Recruits volunteers when needed.
- Volunteers at events when available.
The Vice-President:
- Shall act as an aide to the President.
- The Vice-President shall assume their duties in the absence of the President and the President-Elect.
- Can be a check signer on the PTO account.
- Recruits volunteers when needed.
- Volunteers at events when available.
The Secretary:
- In the absence of the President, the President-Elect and the Vice-President call meetings to order.
- Tallies how many members are in attendance at each meeting and state if a quorum is present.
- Takes notes during all Membership and Executive Board meetings.
- Presents typed minutes for approval at the next scheduled meeting.
- Files records, including a current copy of the Bylaws, Executive Board Members, and a Membership List with the State of Alaska.
- Is a check signer on the PTO bank account.
- Posts advertisements for volunteers on social media and through email.
- Coordinates with the Woodriver Office for added posts to the Weekly Wolfpup.
- Responds to correspondence of the PTO as needed.
The Treasurer:
- Is the custodian for all the PTO funds and ensures all checks are signed by two authorized signatories.
- Is a check signer on the PTO bank account.
- Files all needed paperwork with the IRS and State of Alaska to ensure the PTO maintains its Nonprofit Status.
- Collects and keeps a full and accurate account of all receipts and expenditures in the PTO books.
- Presents a written financial report at every Membership and Board meeting.
- Presents all reports, books, and other documents to an auditor or the Audit Committee before a new treasurer takes office.
- Responds to the PTO's financial correspondence.
The Treasurer-Elect:
- Attends all Membership and Executive Board meetings and serves on the board.
- Assists the treasurer in all his/her duties and responsibilities in preparation for becoming the PTO Treasurer the following year.

Mission Statement
The Woodriver Elementary PTO aims to enhance students' educational experiences by fostering strong partnerships between parents, teachers, staff, and the Woodriver school community. The PTO strives to support academic, social, cultural, and developmental activities that build a safe and thriving student environment and provide support for teachers and staff.
